WE THREE QUEENS
is an original web series about a
broke writer and his rent-boy lover who
move in with a scrappy old widow, and quickly
discover that intergenerational living is anything but easy.
MICHAEL YOUNG (CREATOR)
A graduate of Acting from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in the UK and Jazz Voice from York University in Toronto, Michael acted for six years in Toronto and Montreal, including roles on Bravo and Global, and at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre and Centaur Theatre, where he played Willy in the world premiere production of “With Bated Breath” by Bryden MacDonald. In 2009, Michael returned to York University to do a Master in Environmental Studies degree. He worked for Operation Wallacea, a conservation research organization, for two years, doing field work in Indonesia and Guyana. He left OpWall in 2012 to focus on writing. As a writer, Michael has written for Arts Everywhere by Musagetes Foundation, GUTS Magazine, Undercurrents; A Journal of Critical Environmental Studies, A/J Alternatives Journal, Demeter Press, GAB Communications and Dance Migration. When he’s not writing, he’s running a kid’s playgroup in Toronto’s West End. Michael lives with his partner, three cats, a dog, a pathological number of houseplants and until recently, a ninety-three year old woman (his grandma). WE THREE QUEENS is a slightly fictionalized culmination of the last three years of his life.
TOM CABLE REES (DIRECTOR)
A graduate of Sheridan College’s Media Arts/Film & Television program, Tom’s focus on directing and producing brought his shorts, “A Stranger” and “Tristan,” to Sheridan’s year-end screening. In 2012 he produced the documentary short, “Mimos,” an official selection of the Montreal World Film Festival. For four years he worked as an Associate for Lisa Parasyn Casting, collaborating on productions for NBC, CBS, SyFy, and CBC across Canada and internationally. He left casting in 2016 to pursue development and production, joining Cream Productions and developing WE THREE QUEENS with Michael. Described as “the boy who does it all,” his background in visual
arts – including photography and graphic design – brings a unique perspective to his creative work. Tom currently resides in Toronto and still dreams of becoming a popstar.
